11.04.2008 The Light Factory announces the top five judged entries in the American Zombie Horror Film Contest, co-sponsored by Creative Loafing. The entries came in August, prior to the cancellation but we continued the judging process so that a top 5 could be announced prior to Halloween. The top 10 entries were given a creepy private filmmaker screening at the CAST Theater on Thursday, October 23rd. The following five entries will go on to be judged by George Romero himself and the winner of that will screen prior to the opening night event at the McGlohon Theater on Friday, February 20, 2009.

We’re looking for the area’s (and the nation’s) most macabre directors to shoot their best short horror films. Finalists will be judged by George A. Romero himself! The grand-prize winner of the contest will win a private cocktail party with Romero, a VIP screening of the film at The American Zombie event on Friday, Sept. 19th, a world premiere Web broadcast presented by Creative Loafing and much, much more.
